For All Your Gardening Needs

R and R Market and Garden Center

With the arrival of spring and with summer right around the corner, Pendleton residents will be looking to plant gardens, celebrate holidays, and stock up on seasonal fruits and vegetables. In the shadows of Pendleton Height High School is a one-stop shop for all gardening needs. For over 40 years, Ralph and Kathy Ridenour have run R&R Market and Garden Center at the corner of state roads 38 and 67 in Pendleton.

Kathy says they have all the supplies one would need to beautify their outdoor areas this time of year. "Bedding plants, garden seeds, even the vegetable plants," she said. "Flowers and vegetables both, we have all your gardening needs."

Despite the recent heavy rains, she says all the planting supplies are plentiful, although it may take some extra time for availability. "They aren't necessarily scarce, maybe a little delayed because of all the cloudy days," she said. "But we're pretty well in full fling now."

The Memorial Day holiday is coming up and she says R&R has what customers need to decorate and honor those who have passed. "We have the artificial cemetery decorations," she said. "But then we'll have planters and stuff and the live plants." Ridenour added that over the summer, many of the popular fruits and vegetables will be available as well. "We'll have fresh fruits and vegetables, we try to get the local stuff when it starts coming on," she said. "We usually get Indiana strawberries when they're ready and sweet corn is a big local item. We sell a lot of tomatoes."

R&R is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
